St. John’s Appoints New Music Director

Welcome aboard, Dr. Steve McCollum!

Effective immediately, Dr. Steven McCollum, Professor and Director of Choral Activities in the School of Music at Cairn University in Langhorne, PA, has accepted the appointment as the Director of Music at St. John’s Anglican Church in Southampton, PA. He and his family are new in the area, having just moved to Warminster.

Dr. McCollum has an extensive set of skills and experiences. With a Bachelor’s in Music from Biola University and a Master’s and Doctorate in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington, his background in the art and education of music is broad and deep. Additionally, his command of the theology of worship cannot help but to enrich and enliven the music program at St. John’s, as she seeks to “Know Christ and to Make Christ Known”.

St. John’s is very thankful for the faithful labors of the Rev. Deacon Phil Shade, who has served as St. John’s Music Director and Choral leader over the past three years, while also running “The Broad Street Grind” restaurant in Souderton, PA and serving both Christ’s church and the community in a variety of other roles. Rev. Shade will continue as St. John’s organist under Dr. McCollum’s leadership. Miss Sarah Brown will continue as St. John’s intern pianist.

St. John’s believes that the Lord has brought together an excellent — even unique — convergence of people, skills, and godly piety in Dr. McCollum, Rev. Shade, and Miss Brown and that this music team will be of great benefit to our local church and to the kingdom of God. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
